Position Overview
The VP, Investment Professional role is a Capital Solutions investment team position that serves as the deal quarterback for the LCS strategy. The VP leads due diligence processes, manages investment committee materials and directs junior staff, while simultaneously building an origination network and owning investment monitoring and investor communications for applicable deals. This is a high-accountability role that sits at the intersection of deal execution and management, and external relationship development.
The role requires someone who can lead complex transactions with conviction, communicate proactively with the deal and portfolio management team, mentor junior staff and operate with increasing independence across deal execution, portfolio management and business development.
Core Responsibilities
Deal Execution
• Lead deal due diligence processes of private debt, minority equity, and limited partnership investments end-to-end; manage workstreams across internal staff and external advisors
• Support deal closing and funding processes from IC approval through execution; coordinate with the Portfolio Management and Investment Execution team to ensure timely completion of closing deliverables
• Prepare and own investment committee materials; assess deal risk and articulate mitigants clearly
• Lead financial modeling efforts across deal underwriting; build and maintain credit models, performance return analyses and scenario frameworks while directing junior staff on modeling standards and best practices
• Assist with deal structuring including tenor, pricing, covenant packages and collateral frameworks; support senior team members in tailoring credit solutions to borrower profiles and risk parameters
• Assist with legal negotiations; refine and expand knowledge of credit agreement terms, structure and documentation
• Build pathways to originating deals within the investment mandate; identify and screen new opportunities
Leadership & Strategy
• Direct and develop junior investment staff; provide structured feedback and mentorship to Analysts and Associates
• Align team execution to the investment mandate and firm priorities; develop and communicate actionable investment theses
• Present to MDs and investment committee with clarity and conviction; communicate up the chain on deal and portfolio matters
• Actively participate in IC discussions for deals the individual is not working on
• Stay current on credit market trends, lower middle market deal dynamics and sector developments; bring informed perspectives to team strategy discussions and investment committee dialogue
Value Creation & Portfolio Management
• Work with the Portfolio Management and Investment Execution team to provide deal-specific information and synopses where needed
• Monitoring, valuation, reporting and management processes for assigned investments
• Providing information needed to assemble quarterly monitoring packets and portfolio update materials
• Identify portfolio improvement levers; actively engage with portfolio company initiatives and track performance against plan
• Support execution of planned portfolio initiatives; enable growth strategy in partnership with management teams
External Relationships
• Assist with deal and fund origination; attend conferences and actively build a personal sourcing network of bankers and industry executives
• Lead efforts to provide information for investor-facing communications; field LP questions on applicable investments
• Interact with management teams, co-lenders and intermediaries; develop relationships that generate proprietary deal flow over time
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Accounting or closely related field
• 7+ years of experience in private credit, direct lending, credit-focused portfolio management or a related investment role
• Strong financial modeling skills; advanced Excel proficiency including returns sensitivity analysis, scenario modeling and credit analysis
• Proficiency with AI; ability to implement and leverage across investment and portfolio applications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to produce investor-facing materials and represent the LCS team in cross-functional interactions
• Self-starter who takes ownership; this role requires initiative, range and accountability across a wide set of responsibilities
• Direct experience with private fund structures: LP/GP entities, co-investment vehicles and multi-fund credit platforms (preferred but not required)
• Familiarity with Chronograph, Allvue, DealCloud or similar portfolio monitoring and CRM platforms
• Exposure to SBIC program requirements, SBA regulatory filings or other government-licensed investment structures
• Experience with loan servicing coordination, credit agreement documentation and covenant compliance tracking
• Experience in a cross-functional environment where investment professionals interact directly with finance, compliance and investor relations
