Parkway Capital (“Parkway”), headquartered in Baltimore, MD with an additional office in Boston, MA, is an SBIC-licensed lower middle market investment firm. Parkway is the mezzanine business of Calvert Street Investment Partners. Parkway provides flexible junior capital solutions to lower middle market companies throughout the United States. The firm makes mezzanine debt and minority equity investments to support companies with at least $10 million of revenue and at least $2 million of EBITDA.
Since its inception in 2000, Parkway has invested over $540 million across 75+ portfolio companies. Parkway looks to partner with management teams, equity sponsors, family offices, and owner-operators across industries including manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, business and industrial services, and healthcare.
Position Summary:
Parkway is seeking to hire an Analyst/Associate to be an integral member of its growing team. The Analyst/Associate will play a key role in building financial models, evaluating new investments, underwriting and structuring investments, supporting the due diligence process and ongoing monitoring of portfolio companies.
The candidate will work closely with the firm’s Partners, Principals and Vice Presidents. This role provides the opportunity to work with portfolio company executives (CEOs, CFOs, etc.) in support of Parkway’s role in monitoring and supporting portfolio companies.
Position Responsibilities:
- Build detailed financial models to assess investment returns and conduct sensitivity analysis on model outputs.
- Develop financial analyses, reports and presentations to facilitate making investment and business decisions.
- Support all aspects of the investment process including researching, evaluating and executing subordinated debt and equity investment opportunities.
- Conduct due diligence and analytical work on potential investments, including participating in management presentations of prospective investments.
- Research prospective investment’s competitive position, market size and industry dynamics.
- Conduct financial analysis to assess prospective investment’s historical financials, unit economics, customer-by-customer details, pipeline and backlog details, customer utilization data, customer churn analyses and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Prepare for, participate and document calls with third party diligence providers, including legal, accounting and industry specific consultants.
- Assist with the preparation of investment memoranda and materials for presentation to the firm’s investment committee.
- Monitor portfolio company performance through financial analysis, covenant compliance tracking, and monthly reporting.
- Assist with SBA and investor reporting and ad-hoc analysis as needed.
Qualifications:
Parkway is seeking a highly motivated professional with 1-5 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, private credit, commercial banking, or a related field. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Financial modeling and analytical skills with proficiency in Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex ideas.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Team-oriented approach with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- The candidate must thrive in an entrepreneurial private equity culture with the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably with a major in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or related financial discipline with an outstanding record of academic achievement.
